Asbestos Compensation Claims

No win no fee claims for exposure to asbestos leading to asbestosis, asbestos mesothelioma cancer and pleural thickening.

Hodgkinsons is a firm of specialist industrial disease solicitors providing advice and assistance on compensation claims for workers who have suffered injury as a result of exposure to asbestos.

Background

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral which, until only recently, was widely used in many different applications. It became popular in the construction and manufacturing industries due to its strength, resistance to heat, fire and chemicals. As a result it was put to many different applications including asbestos lagging for pipes & boilers, fire proof walls, doors & ceilings, brake linings, heat resistant gloves, aprons etc.

As a result of its extensive use, many tens of thousands of workers including factory workers, construction workers, ship builders, laggers, joiners etc. have been exposed to asbestos at work without any understanding of the possible dangers and often exposing their families to asbestos dust from their work clothes.

A disturbing fact is that many employers (and governments) were aware of the risks for many years but continued to allow workers to be exposed.

The use of asbestos was not completely banned in the UK until 1999.
Whatever job you did, if you were exposed to asbestos you may be entitled to compensation.

The asbestos related diseases are:-
* Asbestos mesothelioma
* Asbestos lung cancer
* Asbestosis
* Pleural thickening
* Pleural plaque

Asbestos related diseases usually take 20 to 30 or more years to appear following exposure to asbestos dust. If you have worked with asbestos in the past and have lung/breathing problems you may be entitled to make a claim for compensation.

You must also inform your doctors about your asbestos exposure as it may assist them in arriving at a speedy diagnosis of asbestos related disease and provide the appropriate treatment for you.
