GDPR is an abbreviation for ‘The General Data Protection Regulation’ which is a regulation within EU law which covers data protection and privacy for individuals and the exportation of personal data outside of the EU.
The UK currently abides by the ‘Data Protection Act 1998’ which is soon to be replaced by the new GDPR legislation which will provide a new set of regulations and impose severe fines for any non-compliance or breaches. The new GDPR will attempt to adapt the current data protection legislation into the modern ways which data is now being used and stored.
The new legislation will have a considerable impact on the way in which personal data can be used. It will provide individuals with tighter control, stronger privacy and enhanced quality of their personal data in an attempt to increase and consolidate data protection.
