Our Medical Negligence Department can offer you a free initial consultation to discuss your claim in detail and explain the next step of the process. They will also discuss with you your funding options to put your mind at rest over any financial concerns you might have when it comes to instructing a solicitor.  

After the initial discussion, your solicitor will help you to prepare a letter of complaint to the organisation where you received the negligent medical treatment.

Once you have a received a response to the letter of complaint and providing the claim has merit, your solicitor will require your medical records. These will then be checked and verified with the help of our team of medical experts. The negligent treatment you received then undergoes an expert evaluation. Your solicitor will instruct specialist medical experts to consider whether the treatment you received was negligent and where necessary ask them to consider what damage was caused as a result.

Whilst the medical experts are assessing your case, your solicitor will undergo legal discussions with the lawyers representing the hospital or GP surgery responsible for the negligent treatment to put forward your case.

At Hodgkinsons we aim to settle your medical negligence claim out of court by negotiating a settlement between both parties. However, where a satisfactory settlement cannot be agreed out of court, it may be necessary to begin court proceedings.
