The Charity Ball took place at the North Shore Hotel in Skegness, Lincolnshire. Almost 180 guests, both local and from a far, came together for a night of fundraising to raise money in aid of St Barnabas Hospice Lincolnshire. Throughout the exclusive black-tie event, guests took part in various fundraising activities whilst wining and dining.
The evening started with a prosecco reception before Melvyn Prior, BBC Radio Lincolnshire Presenter, kicked off the evening which was shortly followed by a heartwarming speech by Michele Duggan and Caroline Swindon (from St Barnabas), highlighting the importance of fundraising and the previous work Hodgkinsons have taken part in. Live entertainment was provided by the fantastic magician, Mark Farrell and live music was played throughout the evening by Liam Madison. During the night, guests got the chance to win one of 25 high value raffle prizes and take part in the ‘Golden Ticket Game’ in which one lucky guest went home with £505.00! The evening ended with an exclusive auction in which guests bid against one another to win a meal experience for two at No.5 Social in London, courtesy of Michelin Star Chef, Jason Atherton. The auction item was sold for £450.00! Over £5,500.00 was raised during the ball alone, making the night a definite success! To celebrate a fantastic turn out and the significant sum of money raised, guests took to the dance floor to enjoy the rest of their night.
Amongst the guests were Mayor Dannatt and Mayoress Saxon, the team from St Barnabas, Cllr Tony Tye, and Roderic Turner & guests (Hunters Skegness). Without the generosity of the 180 guests and event sponsors, the evening would not have been a success! All profits gratefully received on the evening will contribute towards The Great Wall of China Trek on behalf of St Barnabas Hospice Lincolnshire. The money raised will help St Barnabas to continue providing care to those living with life-limiting or terminal illnesses within Lincolnshire.
