Hodgkinsons Solicitors proudly participating in the Cancer Research UK Free Will scheme

Hodgkinsons Solicitors have proudly been participating in the Cancer Research UK Free Will Service since June 2021. Gifts left in Wills breathe life into researchers’ work and account for over one third of all funding received by the charity without which, they simply would not be able to undertake all the vital research that will one day beat Cancer.

Since joining the scheme and with the help of our Clients, Hodgkinsons have secured pledged gifts in Wills amounting to £344,616.00.  Every gift helps to make a huge difference and therefore even the smallest gift will help Cancer Research UK beat cancer for future generations.

Residuary gifts, that is a share of your Estate rather than a specific amount of money, are often considerably more beneficial to the charity and to your loved ones.  This is because it is more likely to keep pace with the cost of living rises over time which future proofs the charity’s ability to invest in future research, and can help, in certain circumstances, to reduce the IHT payable for your loved ones. This is something we would always be happy to discuss with you.

Right now, gifts left in Wills are funding pioneering breakthrough research that could save millions of lives in the future. In fact, last year Cancer Research spent over £4m on life-saving research in Leeds alone.

Leeds is home to one of Cancer Research UK’s Clinical Trials Units (CTU), which deliver innovative and practice-changing clinical research that impacts the care and outcomes for cancer patients in the UK and across the world. A Senior Research Nurse in Leeds supports the delivery of high-quality clinical trials and studies, getting new treatments into the clinic sooner.

Their Leeds Paediatric Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC) is a partnership between CRUK and the National Institute for Health Research in England. It brings together lab scientists and cancer doctors to speed up the flow of ideas and new treatments from the lab to the clinic.
