Throughout December 2019, employees of leading Lincolnshire Law Firm, Hodgkinsons Solicitors, will be giving back to the elderly residents of the community by providing them with an afternoon of festive fun. By giving just a few hours of their spare time, the volunteers from Hodgkinsons hope that they can spread Christmas joy to those who need it most during this special time of year. By providing companionship and treating the residents to Christmas delights, Hodgkinsons hope that they can help to give those who may feel lonely this Christmas, a memory to cherish.
On Monday 16th December, volunteers from Hodgkinsons Solicitors visited Syne Hills Care Home in Skegness to give the residents a festive morning to remember. Many elderly residents do not have loved ones to spend Christmas with, but by spending just a short amount of time with them, our volunteers will hopefully make it known that they will always be cherished.
Later life should offer new activities, experiences and friendships, which is what our latest initiative hopes to achieve. Interaction and stimulation are vital for the elderly generation and by providing a happy, relaxed and festive atmosphere we can make our contribution to help residents live their lives as fully as possible. Whether it is sharing stories over a cup of tea or offering them a warm mince pie, we hope that our small gestures may just have a big impact on their lives.
They say an active mind is a happy heart and we hope that our activities will fill the resident’s hearts with joy over Christmas. Every person has an important life story, so if we can spare our time to learn and understand by talking to them, we hope that we can help them to feel considered, recognised and appreciated.
