Local Law Firm Provides COVID-19 Emergency Kits to the Elderly

Research has shown that elderly citizens have an increased risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19. It is even more so important for our elderly generation to take extra precautions to reduce the risks of contracting this uncurable disease. Hodgkinsons sympathise with the elderly generation, who are currently being faced with an influx of media stating that the illness mainly affects the elderly, frail and vulnerable, as this is no doubt an unnerving concept to be faced with.

Alongside those who may have underlying health conditions, the elderly generation are being told to stock up on supplies, keep their distance from others, avoid crowded areas and stay at home as much as possible. By simply visiting their local shop to stock up on supplies, they are putting themselves at a considerable risk in order to get the bare necessities they need. Due to panic buying and mass hysteria, individuals are now stock piling food which is ultimately leaving the shelves bare for the elderly to acquire goods,  which is why Hodgkinsons are here to help.

Hodgkinsons Solicitors, a local Law firm who are based in Skegness, are offering anyone aged 70 and above, emergency supply packs which consist of a variety of non-perishable goods including tinned food, biscuits, tea bags, chocolates, crisps, tissues and washing up liquid. Through this initiative Hodgkinsons hope that they can provide essentials to those who need it most so that it can suffice until more goods can be acquired.

Many vulnerable people depend on the services and support provided by their local community to maintain their health and independence. At Hodgkinsons we wish to allow this support to continue whether an individual is quarantined or self-isolated. Individuals who either have a lack of family or do not live near family, may not have anyone to help them in such times of need, which is why Hodgkinsons are pleading for anyone who needs help to get in touch.

The Health Secretary has announced that people over 70 years old will be asked to self-isolate for up to four months. Isolation and loneliness amongst the elderly generation is already a cause of concern within the UK and the concept of Coronavirus increases this even more.  Hodgkinsons would like to reassure the local elderly people within the community that there will always be someone to help in times of need.

In order to prevent the need for elderly citizens to leave their homes and support them in getting the goods they need, Hodgkinsons Solicitors will be delivering emergency packs throughout the local community until such time that the country is forced to go into lockdown. If you or your loved one are struggling to leave your home and obtain the necessary goods you need, please call us on 01754 897150.
