Sam and Cam Grow for it!

Throughout the month of November, Sam Sleight, Head of our Dispute Resolution Department, and Cameron Hill, our Residential Conveyancing Paralegal, have been participating in the Movember Movement. They have both vowed to put down the razor and grow moustaches to raise awareness of this very important cause. Through this initiative they both hoped to raise a combined total of £100.00 which will help fund men’s health projects.

On average, men are dying 5 years earlier than woman, and for largely preventable reasons. Movember is the only global charity whose sole focus is men’s health. The foundation seeks to change the face of men’s health and raise funds to deliver innovative research into mental health/suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer which will enable men to live happier, healthier and longer lives. Since 2003, the charity has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world which has already changed the way in which health services reach and support men. Every penny raised by Sam and Cameron’s participation will contribute to assisting Movember in continuing to fund these groundbreaking health projects.

We asked Sam and Cameron why they chose to take on this challenge, and this is what they said.

Sam: “I think it’s important for men to look after themselves. There’s a stigma attached with men and brushing it off as nothing and not talking about deeper issues. It’s important to raise awareness that it’s ok to talk about things.”

Cameron: “I am doing it because it is for a great cause which year after year does a lot to raise awareness. It also brings some laughs along the way!”

Hodgkinsons Solicitors are incredibly proud to be supporting Sam and Cameron on their mission and we are pleased to announce that through their combined efforts they have raised a total of £219.20. Cameron and Sam managed to double their original goal by holding a successful bake sale on Friday 26th November and offering to have their moustache waxed off for an extra donation!  Every penny raised throughout these initiatives will be donated to Movember.
