PARALEGAL/TRAINEE PARALEGAL WILLS AND PROBATE
Job Title: Paralegal / Trainee Paralegal
Based at: Office Based. Skegness, Lincolnshire
Salary: £25,000.00 - £30,000.00. Dependent Upon Experience
Holidays: 25 days holiday plus Bank holidays
Hours of work: Full-time position Monday to Friday 9.00 am – 5.00 pm with one hour for lunch
1. DETAILS OF THE ROLE
Experience of Wills and Probate is preferred but is not essential as full training will be given.
This role is suitable for an experienced paralegal, or for an applicant who is looking to start their career in law by gaining hands on experience in a professional legal environment.
Experienced Paralegal
You will run your own Wills and Probate caseload proportionate to your experience with minimal supervision. Subject to experience, there will be opportunities to develop your understanding of more complex cases through collaboration with more experienced colleagues. You will also be required to assist other fee earners within the department with their casework and/or cover their cases during holiday periods.
Trainee Paralegal
You will assist fee earners in the department with their case load. You will also be required to undertake a formal Paralegal training course, paid for by the company.
Subject to level of experience, you will, or will work towards:
- Assisting fee earners with the administration of estates, including gathering asset information and preparing documentation
- Meeting with clients developing good relationships
- Liaising with third parties
- Drafting Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Liaising with clients, beneficiaries and other third parties such as financial institutions and HMRC
- Preparing and submitting probate applications
- Conducting legal research and reporting findings to colleagues in an informative way
- Managing and organising electronic client files within a case management system
- Handle general administrative duties
- Attaining a depth of legal knowledge in Wills and Probate
- Collaborating with colleagues in the department to find solutions to legal issues
2. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- GCSE’s (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade 4 or above.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with an ability to prioritize your workload;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to show empathy and compassion in supporting clients in difficult and distressing circumstances, whilst at the same time providing excellent legal advice and client care;
- Be IT literate and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
