You may have recently seen on our website or in the local newspaper that Gemma Middleton, Kira Young, Richard Strange and Travan Chandler will be taking part in the ‘Wild Thing Bushcraft Challenge’ this June. These four employees will form Team Hodgkinsons as they represent the Company in one of the three challenges of 2019 that will be completed by Hodgkinsons in support of St Barnabas Hospice Lincolnshire.
St Barnabas Hospice Lincolnshire have been Hodgkinsons charity of choice for a number of years. The charity holds great significance to many employees within the Company which is why they are driven to participate in as many events as possible to raise the standard of awareness this specialist charity deserves.
The ‘Wild Thing Bushcraft Challenge’ is new for 2019, providing yet another innovative experience in which people can raise money. On 15th - 16th June 2019, Team Hodgkinsons will be exploring Lincolnshire’s ‘Jungle’ to raise vital funds for Hospice care. The Team will be smuggled to their location in the back of a blacked-out truck, their location will be unknown to both themselves and any outsiders. To survive their stay, they will be required to complete a series of challenges that will test their physical, mental and team-work skills. They will need to build their own shelter and fire for warmth, design weapons they can use to fend off any unwelcomed creatures and learn how to navigate through the rugged terrain of their new jungle home. By completing the challenges, the team will prove their wilderness skills and return home, if they fail, they may be stuck in the jungle forever!
The Team have a target to raise £800.00 throughout this one challenge, this is a significant amount of money which will help St Barnabas to continue providing specialist palliative and end of life care to those living with terminal and life limiting illnesses in Lincolnshire.
