St Barnabas Hospice Lincolnshire

St Barnabas Hospice has been chosen as Hodgkinsons charity of choice for over 4 years running. As a Company we are driven when it comes to participating in as many events as possible to raise awareness which this specialist charity deserves.

As supporters of the Hospice our employees take on numerous challenges every year to raise money which can help the charity to continue for many years to come. Recent St Barnabas events which Hodgkinsons participated in include the Colour Dash, the Accumulator Challenge and It’s a Knockout.

China 2019

In August 2018 our employee,  Sue Tough, put herself forward to trek the Great Wall of China in support of St Barnabas Hospice Lincolnshire

The trek took place in October 2019, giving Sue just one year to train and complete her mission of not only walking the wall, but raising £6,250.00!

Throughout 5 consecutive days, Sue and the Team trekked for over 35 hours completing over 50 kilometers of rocky, timeworn and mountainous terrain which was sometimes short of a meter wide and at a significant altitude of up to 3,000 meters above sea level.

Through hosting various in-house events, launching Hodgkinsons' first ever Summer Charity Ball, and through the generosity of local businesses and individuals, Hodgkinsons have successfully raised £9,059.66 through this challenge. By raising this significant amount of money, Hodgkinsons will be donating an additional £2,809.66 to the hospice which will help them to continue providing free palliative care to those in Lincolnshire with life limiting or terminal illnesses.

You can find out more about this challenge in our blog and through our local press coverage, or view the photographs within our gallery!

Wild-Thing Bushcraft Challenge

In June 2019, 4 of our employees, Gemma Middleton, Kira Young, Travan Chandler and Richard Strange, put their survival skills to the test as they participated in the “Wild Thing – Bushcraft Challenge”, a new fundraising event organised by St Barnabas.

After being deserted in the Lincolnshire jungle, the Team were left to their own means to survive for two days and one night in the rugged terrain of their new jungle home.

Each Team member had a target to raise £200.00 in the run up to this challenge. All the money raised will make a significant difference to the patients of St Barnabas Hospice who are living with terminal or life-limiting illnesses as well as their families.

Wills & Probate Initiative

It is important to our Company that we discover as many different ways as possible to fundraise, for example, giving a service back to those who need it most. This is why in recent years our Wills and Probate Department have taken part in the ‘Make A Will Month’ held by St Barnabas. Previously throughout the month of May our Wills and Probate Lawyers have offered free Wills to new and current Clients in exchange for a donation to the charity, rather than a fee.

We understand that Wills and Probate is something of significant concern for patients of the hospice, therefore, in 2018 we launched our ‘Louth Wills Initiative’ in collaboration with the St Barnabas Louth Day Centre. Once a month a member of the Team will offer free advice appointments for members of the Day Centre and their family. For more information please call us. *Please note that this service is currently unavailable.*

Stamp Appeal

Did you know that you can raise money for charity just by simply recycling your stamps? Here at Hodgkinsons we have a “Stamp Collection Point” for employees and Clients to donate their used stamps. Once enough stamps have been accumulated, they will be sold on to stamp collectors and all the money raised from the sales will be donated to St Barnabas Hospice.

If you would like to donate any stamps simply cut the postage stamp from the envelope whilst being careful that you do not damage the stamp. The Stamp appeal is a free and simple way to raise vital funds for a fantastic cause.

Our Mission Statement

We are proud to have established an on-going partnership with St Barnabas Hospice Lincolnshire. It is integral to our Company that we make a positive contribution to both our community and a deserving charity which is close to the hearts of our employees. From big corporate events to small in-office initiatives, fundraising is a frequent event here at Hodgkinsons. Our employees regularly come together to raise money for St Barnabas which will contribute towards the running costs of providing care to those living with life limiting or terminal illnesses within Lincolnshire.

Through our charitable giving and volunteering efforts, we aim to serve as an ambassador for St Barnabas by using our unique platform to spread awareness of this cause. We hope that by working with this charity we can help them to thrive and continue to provide their services within Lincolnshire.

By contributing towards St Barnabas, Hodgkinsons not only support you throughout the many milestones you encounter in life, but also at the end when you need them the most.
